Community benefits
Prologis Park Luton will deliver significant benefits to the local community as well as investment to help the town grow successfully and sustainably.
The key community benefits include:
- Re-energising the former Vauxhall headquarters and BWI site to create a new economic asset for Luton
- Opening up the previous locked up site and the River Lea to the public, creating a new attractive green link through the site from Osborne Road to Manor Road Park
- Creating new pedestrian and cycle paths adjacent to the river, which will also provide easy-access routes to local facilities and Luton Town Centre for both the public and staff
- Exploring opportunities to contribute to other improvements to Manor Road Park
- Creating approximately 540 new jobs on site, hundreds of others in the supply chain and bringing new investment into Luton in growing sectors, such as logistics.
- Providing opportunities for local businesses to relocate to modern high-quality commercial space at Prologis Park Luton
- Providing a dedicated training facility that will provide training and skills opportunities for local people and young people to support them with kick-starting a career in logistics or distribution
- Prologis will also be contributing towards public transport improvements, other pedestrian and cycle measures and community facilities as part of the Section 106 agreement
